My little Gracie is the sweetest little thing. Honest! The only problem is that she has certain… triggers. Every time someone knocks on our front door, that little white dog turns into the loudest thing you’ve ever heard. I swear, it’s like she grows an extra set of lungs, or a fog horn or something. Another trigger of hers is other dogs. She’s a tiny little thing with a huge Napoleon complex, so even dogs that could swallow her whole like an hors d’oeuvre get the full “You wanna go?” treatment. The barking was annoying but livable, but I was a little concerned about her getting into fights. What if a dog at the park decided to teach her a lesson when wasn’t able to? What if she decided that shiny metal dog named “Toyota Corolla” really had it coming and Gracie decided to bring the fight out into the middle of the road?

I had never heard of Outstanding Pet, but a friend of me pointed me in their direction. Still not sure, I went to the website –turns out they’re based in Chicago, which was a plus for me (I have major home town pride). I asked a few questions to customer service, mostly just to get a feel for the company. They seemed very friendly and knowledgeable about their product, so I decided to place an order.

A shock collar wasn’t the first thing I tried but it will be the last. As soon as the collar arrived in the mail (remarkably fast, I might add!) I put it on Gracie and decided to go to the park for a test. Before we even got to the park, we ran into young couple walking their golden. I saw that old look in Gracie’s face, and pushed the vibrate button–I don’t think I’d ever seen a dog look so confused! But within a few seconds she was fixated on the golden again, so I opted for a small shock. I had decided that Gracie (being so small) would probably respond to the lightest shock, and I was right, plus I’m glad I didn’t have to use anything stronger! We kept walking, and when we got right by the golden Gracie started to look interested, but I hit the vibrate button again, and it worked like a charm! She was learning!

I’ll admit, even with my friend’s glowing review, I was dubious about the remote. While it feels solid enough, there’s just this little nubbin at the top for an antenna. Nevertheless, when Gracie was at the dog park, she would visibly respond to a quick push of a button, even when running around!

I was hesitant to try this, and I was close to trying a different manufacturer, but I’m glad I went with outstanding pet! Highly recommended!

Recently, we adopted a golded retriever. He obeys well when he wants to. When someone walks by our little farm he runs out to “visit” them and will not respond to commands. The DR-500M “vibrate” mode usually gets his attention and redirects his behavior to our commands.

Our dog has long fur around his neck that the shock mode does not penetrate. Also, the DR-500M is water resistant, but not water proof. We have a small stream on our propterty, and rivers, ponds and lakes close to our house. You can see the problem here.

I would suggest the manufacturer add a pair of longer prongs for use on dogs with heavy thick fur. The DR-500M is a great choice based on price and ease of use. If your dog is likely to submerge the unit in water while you are training, I would recommend purchasing a more expensive training collar.

We love our new Outstanding Pet DR-500M remote training collar. We were worried about the safety of our smallest dog, who would simply climb our field fenced property like monkey bars! He has responded very favorably to the trainer. we have found the vibration function to be enough of a deterrent that we have never used the shock function, but we are glad this affordable product includes both.

I purchased this collar about 2 months ago and LOVE IT! We have a 2 year old Welsh Terrier with a head as hard as Mount Rushmore! We had a Pet Safe unit before but the receiver broke and I couldn’t get it fixed. My remote on the Outstanding Pet stopped working after 2 months I went online and chatted with a representative and received a replacement in two days. The vibrating feature got my dogs attention immediately without a shock required and made her jump like I lit her up with the shocker.

I only have to show her the remote and or call her now and she listens like never before, this is an OUTSTANDING product, the price beats everyone else the vibrating feature, lightweight rechargable receiver and compact transmitter are awesome. If your loooking for an attention getting training collar for your dog save your money and buy this system. If you have a sporting dog that goes to water buy the more expensive collars that are waterproof made by another company. If Outstanding Pet ever makes a waterproof collar I’d recommend it over anything else.

Welsh Terriers are known for being stubborn, on a scale of 1 to 5, five being the easiest to train they are rated a one. This collar has made my dog a five and that’s saying something.

I have never wrote a review before but I am today. I bought two collars for my dogs, one worked well the other was not strong enough for my large lab. I would of liked to keep at least the one that worked, however they are not water proof which does not make sense when you are putting it on a dog. Which is fine, however, I was 5 days over there 14 day trial and I cannot return them. I suppose it is my fault for not being on top of it more, but I guess I forget that its not about the people but about the buisness.

My 12.5 year old Dobie must wear an Elizabethan collar … otherwise she’ll continue to lick and lick at her hindquarter. The licking causes serious skin aggravation resulting in the need for antibiotics. This e-collar is quite successful at preventing our dog from getting at the problem area on her hindquarter. She is very rough on the collar, bumping into things as she goes and it has numerous tears in it which I’ve patched with packing tape. Other than the tearing, the dog has entirely accepted the collar. I just thought that, as it is a Kong product, it would be more heavy duty and durable.

I recently adopted a Shih Tzu from the city’s dog pound. His skin was pitiful. He is still having some problems with hot spots and/or allergies. I am treating his skin condition, but he would bite and scratch himself constantly and would not let the sores heal. I went to the local pet store to buy an e-collar and was very discouraged at the selection and price of their products. I then went directly to Amazon and found this KONG e-collar. The collar is very simple and the price is right. I have used the collar on my dog constantly for the past two weeks, during the night and during the day or when I am away from home and cannot keep a close eye on my pet. The collar withstands multiple snapping and unsnapping during the day, as he will not eat or take care of his bathroom needs when he is wearing it. The collar is strong, very well made and my pet and I appreciate the soft edges at the neck and outer edges. Also, the collar is clear and I am sure he appreciates that as well. The collar has some openings at the base where it can be attached to the pet’s tag/name collar, making it impossible for the pet to slide the e-collar off. I have not used those openings because my pet has never tried to take the collar off. One caveat: my pet is small but long-bodied and he curls up in such a way that he can reach his hind legs to lick. However, he cannot reach his rump, which is where his problem is located. Perhaps if would be even better if the collar would extend an additional inch or so beyond his face. I like this collar so much that I already ordered another one to have as a spare.

This is my first ever review but felt compelled. First the product is excelent but the thing that also impressed me was the service. When I got the large collar it was too small for my 93 pound dog. I called All Pet direct and woman could not been more helpful.I had an extra large the very next day at no charge……….that’s service.

The Kong E-collar is very well made – flexible translucent plastic, leather-like padded inner and outer edges.

Unfortunately, I had to go back to the traditional vet-provided e-collar because the Kong E-collar did not sit high enough to protect my dog’s eyes. He has to wear an e-collar because he had eye surgery for a corneal ulcer. Since the Kong E-collar doesn’t have those plastic loops on the bottom that the collar goes through like a traditional e-collar, it sits too low on the neck for our use.

I also did not use the black snaps that closes the Kong E-collar since I didn’t want anything pointy near his eyes. I used medical gauze to close the Kong E-collar as suggested by other reviewer.. which worked out fine, except for the issues stated above.

If this was for anything on the body – stitches after a spay or neuter, hot spots, etc, I think it would work fine.

My dog has to wear an e-collar almost all the time for medical reasons. I appreciate the padding around the neck and outer edge as this is more comfortable for him and me. He does love to bump the back of my legs trying to get me out of his way. The collar is well made also.
