I also had a syringe left over from when I got my molars out- it is really useful in squirting hydrogen peroxide into the wound. It speeds the healing greatly, but ALWAYS make sure you rinse it with water afterwards. As the video said, the cat will probably try to lick it off afterwards and it will poison your already sick cat- not good.

For people who need a little more, my cat has an absess on his cheek right now. Every 2 hours or so I take a damp paper towel and clean it off to stop his fur from getting dirty. I also apply a little pressure to the actual hole and it usually drains a bit. The key to healing it is to NOT let it close up until it’s completely clean-usually takes a few days. If it heals before the infection is gone, it will just burst again later. You might have to scrub it gently with gauze, do not let it close.
