We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all HUMANS are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable RIGHTS, that among these are LIFE, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”
The bottom line is that is idiocy for Waters to think everyone in the nation should think the way she does. Things are different in many parts of the country. My district is filled with Catholic, blue-collar voters. Any Congressman we have had was either a moderate Democrat or a Republican. An ultra-left candidate has about as much chance of winning as the Chicago Cubs do of winning the World Series.
whiteking, you dont know what you are talking about. speculation and the whim of the oil companies can change the price of a barrell at will, and they do. there is no reason for the price to go up when demand is down. no one is buying so there is a budget shortfall through decreased tax revenue across the nation. we have oil through a fluke find in oil city pennsylvania. stop loving your captor, thats stockholm syndrome. OPEC is a toothless diversionary tool of the oil industry
If America lets Obama socialize medicine where will all the Canadians go?
Can you believe Omoron stated today that we can enjoy our healthcare in our golden days. Have you read HR3200 pgs. 425-430? Its Soylent Green, so much for those Golden days.
Nationlization of oil would make matters worse. The reason for high gas prices isn’t the greed of CEOs, it’s because taxes on oil are constantly getting raised. This country became great because of free enterprise. I will remind you a big reason we have oil is because companies were bold enough to take the risks and spend the money to explore potential oil wells. It’s only fair they should reap the rewards. This isn’t Venezuela, America isn’t run at the whims of some socialist dictator.
Health Care is not a right. Let’s get that straight. Nations where heakth care is state-run are notorious for their long waits, inefficient care, and exorbitant cost to the taxpayer. Even the CBO is talking about the immense cost of Obamacare. With a recession still in play, families feeling the pinch, can we really afford a program that will undoubtedly lead to higher taxes. The govt. runs the VA and they can barely manage that. I think I’d prefer to keep govt. out of my medical concens.
It is digression (yours not mine), but nationalizing petroleum companies is a reasonable argument to put on the table as we, the American people, are a people consistently cheated out of the oil profits via legal loopholes oil companies take advantage of. Most Americans don’t even realize we are entitled to a royalty on produced oil. The lands are ours, the technology is theirs, and there should be a fair split and they’ve paid nothing. Stick to facts. Let go of allegations and name calling.
The argument you present is not germane to advancing the state of the American people. The police, fireman and all matter of public safety are the finest in the world; run by the state governments. “All matter of public safety” should not stop at healthcare which, in a country this great, should be just as much a right as the expectation of being saved from a fire, protected by the police or using a public (government run) library.
Waters is a nut. Among other things, Waters called for nationlizing the petroleum industry (because we all know the government is so good at running things.), is consistently viewed as one of the most corrupt members of Congress, and unsuccessfully attempted to petition for the revocation of the license of a TV station that exposed her corruption. I think Congress can do without more legislators like Maxine Waters.
Yes, I’m sure progressives really have the interests of average Americans at heart. It’s why they want to pass that cap-and-trade crap which will significantly raise already high utility costs. It’s why they want to pass card check, which will make it easier for union goons to intimidate workers. It’s why they want a bloated health care plan which will wreck our economy, cause rationing of care, and harm the elderly’s access to care. I think Americans can do without more “progressives”.
Actually, many Blue Dogs do represent the majority of their constituents, it’s why they’re in office. My congressman is a Blue Dog. You try running ultra-left candidates in some of these districts and find out what happens. Maybe if Obama and his sycophants didn’t have this “my way or the high way” attitude, it wouldn’t be such an issue. Legislators serve the people they represent, not the other way around. Following the wishes of the electorate takes precedence over towing the party line
Conservative Democrats who call themselves Blue Dogs are really yellow-belly, sappy suckers who do not represent the majority of their constituents. They only care about themselves and getting re-elected. We need more progressives.
Conservative Democrats are the same as Republicans — they vote to help make the rich richer and put average working Americans at a disadvantage. We need more progressives in congress.
