Jay Rockefeller wrote the provision which would restrict how much the insurance companies can spend on activities other than providing health care. That is a great provision for consumers.

Tax cuts are a budgetary measure. They increased revenues and helped to keep the budget balanced until 2006.

It has been used multiple times for Medicare, already. That is one of the most important elements of this, and it totally qualifies – AGAIN.

OMB [Office of Management and Budget] says the currently proposed Healthcare bill
Will reduce Medicare expenditures 2 – 2.2 T$ in the next 10 years.

CBO, [Congressional Budget Office] and JCT [Joint Committee on Taxation]
says 138 billion$ OVERALL- in the next 10 years.

Totaling 2.138 – 2.348 Trillion $ in ten years

At this point I could care less. The Republicans, as shitty as they are will get into power and remove this bill if it passes. The problem with this bill is people like me who will not pay a cent for this. I have a lot of money and a constitutional lawyer. Good times.

Yeah, and I always love that comparison to ‘any’ nationalized health care system. What is the tax environment like in those countries to subsidize this type of program? Also, how much of that money is hemorrhaged because of fraud and mismanagement?

You’ve never heard of guarantee issue or pure community rating? Any state that has flirted with either has experienced rapid increases in premiums. Why? Because it takes away the insurance company’s ability to assess risk. And by the way, this greed argument is about as firm as jello. State mandates account for a huge percentage of premiums. Do you even know how state insurance regulation works??

And by the way, the V.A. system isn’t subjected to the same regulation/mandate enforcement…

Yes, many states already mandate that of their health insurers. And the “worry” rests with the fact that if this bill passes, states will likely not remain the de facto regulators of health insurance. Go do some research for once.

And most people might be satisfied with their doctors…But they have no clue that much of the costs associated with their high insurance premiums is a product of the skyrocketing cost of medical procedures and treatment.

Using budget recionciliation to pass unpopular agenda items. You are opening a can of worms ad it won’t turn out good for you. These safeguards are in place to protect our system of government. You may not like it when your agenda is being resisted but you would love it if this was a republican president. Don’t give them that power

There are a lot of countrys in The Americas, each have a name for their citizens; Chilean, Peruvian, Mexican, Canadian, etc. Why doesn’t this nation have a name for its citizens other than “American”?
