@capjo2008 After going back and trying to find out if they would indeed deduct any penalty from a tax refund, I found a lot of interesting things but not an answer. So you may be right. At one point they talk about collecting penalties in the manner as described in “sec B of Chapter 68″…there is no Chapter 68 in this bill. I give up.

@capjo2008 Your statement is a little misleading. Unpaid taxes can often lead, after a long time mind you, a garnishing of wages. If you owe the taxes (penalty included), that of course would be included in the garnishment of your wages.

the statute says they will not come to your door to collect the penalty but if you read where the penalty is applied we all know they don’t have to. It’s applied to your tax return. so if you file taxes and there is no box checked on your W2 for health insurance from your employer or you can’t show your carrying individual insurance, then that penalty is added to your taxes due…see that’s where they get you. The penalty starts at $95 and increases yearly.

Who is it that feeds Republican Senators all of these phony numbers??
