We are getting technical now a days with dog products and services. I even know of a hotel for dogs, while you’re on vacation. But without getting into product reviews, what is worth it, and what is not, let me say that the body wrap called Thundershirt is pretty awesome. Most dogs, even calm ones, when they hear loud noises, such as thunder (aka: thundershirt) they tend to get stressed and anxiety grows, this wraps, which by the way is made from elasticised material and Velcro, are engineered to give a snug fit around your dog which in turn causes a security and calming affect.
A calm dog is a happy owner. Is your dog hyper or eager? Does he or she bark at the drop of a hat, or when you want to just relax at the end of the day, your dog continues to be hyper and it just becomes more of a burden and stressful on you, than not?
I know the Vet’s have about eight different products they give out for hyper dogs (and cats), and the Thundershirt erases the need for these drugs. When you take long trips, or even moving to a new home, the Thundershirt would do wonders. I remember moving from Wyoming to another state, and the Vet gave us some drugs for both our dog and cat, to “take the edge off” is the way he puts it. Well, they did work, but it was not easy getting them to take these drugs. Wish I owned the Thundershirt back in those days. Naturally this situaltion will make any animal nervious, but whatever the situation you have that makes your dog eager, fearful, or over-excited, the quick solution is the Thundershirt. You really do not need to concern yourself with thunder or fireworks, andy separation, travel (as my story above), or even crate anxieties. We have already seen some fakes, but no major issues on the matter. We know the Thundershirt already works great , so no need to go find a cheaper version from some company that just threw something together that looks like a combination of a waist band with velcro. So, as this fix may not be 100% the answer when your away from your dog, I would not put the Wrap on your dog when you are not home. This is just my personnel view, as this can trigger an adverse affect and cause new problems for your dog.
They may even get immune to the wrap causing it to not work at all. Dogs love thier owners and nothing can replace you. That is a good thing. The bad is over doing it when it comes to the Thundershirt. Ensure you use it wisely and at the right times on your dog, and it will do its job.
